Dr. Valenzuela’s work is at the forefront of mouse gene targeting technologies. He and his research group at Regeneron Pharmaceuticals are pioneering methods for high-throughput gene targeting in embryonic stem cell lines, direct generation of mice from ES cell lines, and high resolution analysis of gene expression in genetically manipulated animals. As a result of their success, the VelociGene technology has been chosen as an integral part of NIH’s Knockout Mouse Project (KOMP). Dr. Valenzuela’s group plans to generate and analyze mutations in 3,500 mouse genes in the next five years.
Registration is encouraged but not required. Please register by contacting Lauren Strelec at l-strelec@northwestern.edu by Friday, 4/4/08.
