The Northwestern Memorial Foundation MD-Scientist Fellowship in Genetic Medicine


Thanks to generous support from the Northwestern Memorial Foundation (NMF), the Center for Genetic Medicine (CGM) is soliciting applications for the 2008 Northwestern Memorial Foundation MD-Scientist Fellowship in Genetic Medicine.


The fellowship is intended to provide support for a senior fellow who must have the protected time (≥75%) required to develop and conduct the pilot research necessary to be competitive for a career development award. The award will provide $50,000 in salary and benefits to one clinician-scientist from July 1, 2008 through June 30, 2009. The fellowship recipient will be chosen through a competitive review and selection process.

Eligibility

Applicants must hold an MD or MD/PhD degree from an accredited medical school, and should typically be at the PGY5 to PGY7 level. Applicants must be actively engaged in clinically relevant genetics research and affiliated with the laboratory of a CGM faculty member who has a clinical relationship with NMF.

Review Process

The Northwestern Memorial Foundation MD-Scientist Fellowship Committee will base its decision on the quality of the science, the maturity of the work, its importance to the field of clinical genetics research, and the potential for an academic career. The Committee will send its final decision to each applicant in early March 2008.
