Application and Deadlines

The University currently requires applications be submitted online, along with a $75.00 application fee. Click here to go to the online application.

  • To apply to the Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling please use department code G10MS
  • To apply to the dual degree program in Genetic Counseling and Medical Humanities and Bioethics please use department code G12MS


Please note that the request for a resume and a diversity statement are both optional for the Graduate Program in Genetic Counseling.

In addition to completing the online application, we also request:

  • Three letters of recommendation (these may be submitted online or mailed to our office address)
  • Personal essay (this is submitted on the online application)
  • Please disregard the general instructions on the application regarding what to address in the personal essay. Instead, please specifically address your motivation for becoming a genetic counselor, and emphasize your prior and current experiences (volunteer, employment, life experiences, teaching, research, etc.) and how they have contributed to your desire to join the profession. The personal essay should not be longer than two pages.
  • Official transcripts from all undergraduate and graduate schools
  • General GRE scores (quantitative, verbal and analytical. Official scores should be sent using 1565 as the institution code and 0210 as the program code

Deadlines:
The application deadline for admission in fall of 2010 is Friday, January 8, 2010.
