Research Interests:
Dr. Wunderink’s research focuses on the genetics of critical illness,
including septic shock, pneumonia, exacerbations of chronic obstructive lung
disease (COPD), and acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). The major
emphasis is on polymorphisms that can be targeted with already available immunomodulatory
therapies. He has participated in several large cohort studies, including
an international community-acquired pneumonia project.
