Endocrine Disrupting Contaminants and Reproductive Health: April 2013 Silverstein Lecture Series

On April 24 and 25, 2013, the Center for Genetic Medicine welcomed Silverstein Lecture Series guest lecturer Louis J. Guillette Jr. PhD, Director, Marine Biomedicine & Environmental Sciences Center; Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Medical University of South Carolina; Centers of Economic Excellence (CoEE) Endowed Chair of Marine Genomics, Hollings Marine Laboratory; and Professor, Howard Hughes Medical Institute. The event drew approximately 115 members of the public and the Northwestern University community.

Center for Genetic Medicine Launches NGS Core Facility

The Center for Genetic Medicine is pleased to announce the launch of the Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Core Facility. The new core will provide NGS and related bioinformatics to researchers at Northwestern University and its affiliate institutions. The NGS Core offers a range of sequencing options, including RNA-seq, ChIP-seq, targeted resequencing, and de novo assembly, on the Illumina HiSeq and Roche 454 GS-FLX platforms.

Center for Genetic Medicine Collaborator Spotlight: Will Thompson, PhD

Dr. Thompson, Research Assistant Professor, Department of Medicine, Division of General Internal Medicine and Geriatrics, Feinberg School of Medicine, is developing NLP tools for the Northwestern Medical Enterprise Data Warehouse, a single, comprehensive, and integrated repository of all medical data sources on the Northwestern medical campus to facilitate operational, patient care, and research reporting.
