Keynote Speaker: Susan Dymecki, Associate Professor of Genetics, Harvard Medical School
"Redefining the central serotonergic system by genetic cell lineage"
The Dymecki research group is interested in the molecular organization of embryonic tissue and how that organization relates to adult tissue structure and function. Toward understanding these relationships in a mammalian model, they have developed a series of genetic fate mapping and effector tools for use in mice. While suitable for studying the development of a broad range of tissue types, they are applying these tools to better understand the development and function of particular hindbrain neural systems, including the serotonergic system with its involvement in such disparate functions as cardiorespiratory homeostasis, conditioned learning, and anxiety.
Please register by emailing Anna Shepherd at annashepherd@northwestern.edu by Wednesday, May 6th. Please indicate in your email if you would like to purchase a $5 discounted parking voucher.
These vouchers can be used at both the Huron/Superior and St. Clair parking garage (across the street from Galter Pavilion, attached to Olson) and the North Fairbanks and Erie garage (two blocks south of the Lurie Building). Both garage locations are marked on the map found here.
Call for Posters
The Mouse Genetics Group invites graduate students and postdoctoral fellows to submit posters for the competition. Research in any field that directly involves mouse genetics is welcome. Posters will be judged on content and presentation. FIRST PRIZE: $250 SECOND PRIZE $100
To take part, download and complete the abstract submission form below. The form is available in both Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word formats. Please note that in order to save the Acrobat form, you must have the full version of Adobe Acrobat, not Adobe Reader.
