Xiaobin Wang, MD, MPH, ScD

Research Interests:
Dr. Wang is a molecular epidemiologist whose work unites molecular biology, genetics, clinical medicine, and epidemiology and brings together laboratory science and child health professionals from multiple disciplines. Her research has covered a broad scope of child health issues ranging from adverse reproductive outcomes, child growth and development, respiratory health, and childhood precursors of adult diseases.

At present, Dr. Wang is the principal investigator of five molecular epidemiological studies on preterm birth, low birth weight, metabolic syndrome, and food allergy, particularly the interaction between genes and the environment. Her work is supported by grants from the National Institutes of Health, the March of Dimes Birth Defect Foundation, and Bunning Food Allergy Foundation.

Dr. Wang received her MD from Beijing Medical University in Beijing, China, and a master of public health from the School of Public Health and Tropical Medicine at Tulane University in New Orleans. She also received a doctor of science degree from the Department of Maternal and Child Health at the Johns Hopkins University School of Hygiene and Public Health in Baltimore. Dr. Wang completed a three-year research fellowship in Environmental Epidemiology at the Harvard University School of Public Health and a residency in pediatrics at Boston Medical Center.
