The highlights of Dr. Guang-Yu Yang’s research are the following:

Research direction:
The molecular mechanism of colorectal (particularly ulcerative colitis-associated carcinogenesis) and pancreatic carcinogenesis and their prevention.

Models:

1) There are several chemical agent induced colitis and its associated carcinogenesis mouse models established in Dr. Yang’s lab using different genetic background mice and genetically engineered mice.
2) In human studies, sessile serrated polyp/serrated adenoma/carcinoma pathway in colon and pancreatic cancer

Targeting molecular events: Nitro-oxidative stress, DNA damage, NF-kB and AKT pathway, and mevalonate metabolic pathway and K-qas and IGF-1R.
